Please call Bigfoot by their proper name, Homo Sapiens Cognatus

The Best Christmas Ever !!!
I admit. I am a follower. I follow anything related to the legend known as Bigfoot. I've read all the books which is usually regurgitated info that I read years before . I look at every website I can find but most don't have consistently updating info. A few do like Bigfoot Evidence and The Bigfoot Field Journal . Another site that adds Bigfoot contemporary information with a little gossip is Robert Lindsay's blog Beyond Highbrow. Either of these sites will fill you with hours on entertainment and information.  I try and watch as many videos as I can, but once you have seen all the good ones, you'll know the difference. I follow my favorites Bigfoot researchers on Facebook and read all their updates. I have started listening to Podcast but I feel almost dirty listening to another man talk into a microphone from the privacy of his own home. Luckily, there I can hear the voices behind the names and get a real feeling for what they witness. To this day I try never to miss a JC Johnson interview. Either that man is a real life monster hunter or he may be the greatest storyteller that ever lived. I am leaning in favor of the monster hunter. I am what they call an "Armchair Researcher". Remember that name. I don't go out in the woods, go on expeditions, or even go on a mere hike. I am not trying to dirty my Chucks and White V-neck. I am a city boy who cares deeply for my Forest People. The Bigfoot world needs us. Why else would this all be so accessible on the web? Without support of the common man, Bigfoot is just a story. Body or not. I guess you could say I am obsessed.

But when I go onto the Internet I am reading up on Bigfoot. Maybe an occasional world event here and there but for the most part it's Bigfoot. What's new, what's not, what is fake and what has the potential to be true?  I have never not believed they were real , I just didn't know what it was. The biggest problem with believing in Bigfoot is the public doesn't know how it relates to them. Selfish but very human. If Bigfoot is real what does that mean about Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha, and the rest of the gang? I guess it puts everything we know into question?

That's not a big deal to be Bigfoots' biggest fan is it? I have a great job, a roof over my head, a loving woman and a perfect little newborn baby. I have much more than most. But I can't even stop talking when someone eggs me on about discussing Bigfoot. Am I childish for doing so? Am I a sucker to their cause?  It usually starts with "How much time do you have to discuss the topic of Bigfoot?" Cause truthfully it's an all day discussion. If you want the straight up of what I think that could run us an hour of so. I mean, you are talking about a living direct link to our ancestry!!! So out of respect they deserve at least two hours of discussing. That would give us enough time to discuss what it is, where it lives, and who are the major players. This isn't to be taken lightly people!

Dennis Pfohl, Adrian Erickson, and Melba Ketchum
It is known to grow to height of over ten feet . It could weigh over a thousand pounds in some cases. They have family units like you and I. They have been around us all along for thousands of years. It's speed and overall stealth is unmatched compared to any man. The forest is just like our living rooms. if something was missing they would know. It's the top predator in North America besides it's city dwelling brother also known as the common man. They come in many different colors and with many different physical traits. Much like ourselves . And today they released its Binomial Nomenclature with ZooBank  . The research group associated with Melba Ketchum released 3 whole genomes of Bigfoot aka Homo Sapiens Cognatus. Cognatus meaning related to the mother by blood . The research suggested that sometime 13,000 years ago a female human being mated with something that wasn't 100% like us . What that created was the ancestor known as Bigfoot. Just understanding that part could take a lifetime.

So here I am . Confused, baffled, and a little excited that my beliefs are now backed up by science. What next ? For years I have had to use words like " what if" , "maybe" or "the possibility" . Am I free now to talk amongst civilized humans about the Hominid known as Bigfoot. Probably not, but  has that ever stopped us before?

One Year Without The Drink

Firstly, I want to state if you can drink and do drugs all day and night than do it. Not more, but the most power to you. I commend your drive and desire. I just couldn't take being one person at night and than someone else the next day. I know I am not the only one that feels this way but at the time I did. I wasn't acting fake. I was just lost.  It was tiring, frustrating, and financially bankrupting to keep doing what I was doing .  I have just completed over a year of not drinking or doing any hard drugs. That means no Friday night meet ups with the boys or late night calls to the dope man to score a bag. Usually they were one in the same.  How do I feel? Well life still goes on but today I can most definitely handle what is on the horizon. It's not always good or bad but I know that I can get through it. I have a feeling of inner worth knowing that I have the life skills to make my own decisions . I am okay doing things on my own now as I used to be fearful making decisions alone. I know, what a pussy.

I will admit that I never stopped smoking marijuana . This blog isn't about me justifying my life to anyone except God or whomever the higher being is up there in the sky .  Do some people think marijuana is bad? I am sure they are out there but I know what works for me. I keep the smoking quiet unless someone asks me, but for the most part I am always down for a good puff.

Now here in lies the debate. I go to Alcoholics Anonymous . I am an alcoholic because without drinking I don't desire to do half the shit I would do being drunk. This includes talking too much, spending too much, and pretending too much.   I participate in the meetings . I would never sponsor anyone unless I was completely "sober". Those are the rules. I get a lot out of the program. For instance you can share and laugh within the meetings. I am with people that feel like I do. I would never take away from the benefit of AA, but I can't always say I follow it 100%. It's free and bases it existence on donations from fellow members. I have met a lot of great people in AA. And without AA I would not be alcohol-free today. My main knock on AA is I don't feel like talking about drugs and alcohol all day long. I wasn't doing that when I was drinking and using so why do I want to talk about it all the time when I am not ? But maybe that is part of the attraction to AA. Most of the time talking about having a problem with alcohol or drugs is a no-no to all the "normal" people out there.

The conclusion to all this is I don't drink and use today. I feel much better. I am in a place that I never though possible one year ago.  I do miss all my old friends that I used to get drunk with. I am sure they are on the same bar stool. That doesn't mean I don't want a huge Pina Colada or the coldest Bud Light in the world. I do, but like anything in life I have to make choices. One choice leads me to confidence and spiritual growth and the other leads to short term highs with really low lows . If you would have asked me ten years ago I would have taken the highs and the lows. But now I just want more . Can you blame me?

Who am I?

Who Am I? This is seamlessly an impossible question for me to answer. I could tell you who I was. A student, a musician, a rugby player, a drunk, a jokester, a cheat, and a thief. I could tell you whom I would like to become. A father, a husband, a leader, an owner, a provider . But I have a really tough time telling you who I am now. I think I am mixture of all. I know where I want to go but I can't seem to shake the persona of what I was. Does everyone have this issue or am I the only one ?  It's fun to  think about the past and it's intriguing to predict the future but it's kind of scary living in the present. The present appears to be so unpredictable and ever changing . I feel like I get my heartbroken a few times a week. I am slowly moving from what everyone else is doing to just worrying about myself and my immediate circle . That is a tough transisiton. I amost feel like I am trying to not care so much anymore. But in reality I am caring more about stuff that is important to me .

It still trips me out

Do you like this view?
Just a couple of pins!
It blows my mind that I broke my leg on October 1st 2011. That would be about 6 months today on the dot. I can't do a lot of stuff I used to. I can't do a squat. I can' t jump off the porch and run to my car. I couldn't chase down a hoodlum stealing an old lady's purse, and if a mountain lion was chasing me I probably wouldn't make it to safety. I have put on a little weight but I was a fat ass before the accident so my clothes aren't complaining.
Some good things have come out of the whole experience. My girl Jamee has taken care of me through the whole process. She has been amazing. I am going to marry that little beezy one day and not because she made me breakfast everyday for three months but because she has made sacrifices for me that not just anybody would make. The only problem is she steals all my jokes. All of them!

Another great thing that has come out of the accident is it keeps my butt in my desk. I get to work at 7am and I leave after 6pm, everyday, Monday through Friday. I have had the opportunity to build a business with my mentor and good friend . He gave me a chance to be a part of it and I jumped on it . So when I see people posting about their workouts, or other physical accomplishments, I don't get upset. Cause I have things in my life that people couldn't even touch no matter how many pushups they do.
Ouch

Keep quiet. It's only Tuesday

I know it's only Tuesday, and I'm sick, but this weekend I am making a trip to South Lake Tahoe. It is for my soon to be brother in law Eric "Karl or Carl" Marks. I throw in the "Carl" to reference the children's book author Eric Carle and not the famous philosopher Karl Marx. Strangely enough they are both German . I bet for a minute you thought I was some sort of intellectual but I am merely a fan of books with pictures.
This weekend is his bachelor party. It's a one night event and probably one night is all we are going to need. South Lake Tahoe is almost like a hidden gem only known to Northern California locals. It is mostly a stop off from a weekend of skiing but to me it is a lot more. They have about six casinos that cater to the crowd passing through for a weekend getaway. I learned how to bet horses there and though I will always be grateful my wallet is not so lucky. I have also seen some Raider playoff games up there and was mesmerized by the Raider fans. I remember going up there and staying at THE BLOCK. It used to be a snowboarder motel with themed rooms. I have stayed in the Pac Man Room, The DVS Room, and the Vivid Room.  It was truly a sight. Always remember ,South Lake is cleaner than Reno, bigger than North Lake, and not as hectic or expensive as Vegas.

Ain't nothin like a cane

Firstly, I want to state that canes or any other walking apparatus that resembles a cane is only "cool" when you don't have to use it. That being said some days I look like an old man and on other days I look like a street hardened pimp looking for my next dollar. It all depends on my dress.  I have moved up from crutches to a walking cane about two weeks ago. I feel like I am starting to get this old life back. I can get around a lot better and I am able to do things like cook and carry my own plate. That doesn't sound like a lot but when you have a choice between eating over a sink and having to ask someone to carry your plate it starts to get frustrating . My doctor said I have come a long ways and the physical therapy I have been doing has shown. That being said I still am a long ways off from running, jumping, and the occasional flip off a diving board. But remember life is about progress, and I feel like I have made a lot of that. No one was against me during this process but a lot of people doubted I would be back at it so fast. They said I would walk for six months. But hey when you ain't got kids, a mortgage, and no car payment, you got some time to get better. I couldn't have done it without Jamee "Jimmy" Sims, but we don't have to tell her that cause she'll just read it in this blog. Watch out World!

On the Road to Recovery

Tibial Plateau Fracture
It has been a little bit since I have been able to write on this blog. I am recovering from a pretty severe broken leg that I got playing in hopefully my very last rugby game.  I am currently staying at my parents house because my residence has a claw bathtub that I can't get into and way too many steps. But hey, I am alive and I will recover from this. Maybe not financially, as I viewed part of my insurance claim, for the first three days it was sixty thousand dollars.  I have never even made sixty thousand in a year except that one time. So the money part of it I can't really even fathom. I stayed in the hospital for a total of 8 days
The truth is I am getting better every single day. I can now move my leg and do things I thought were impossible 7 days ago. I might not walk in the year 2011 but that doesn't mean I can't embrace this road to recovery. I am so thankful to have my family, my girlfriend, and a great group of friends supporting me through this. It was a very traumatic experience and when I think about the injury I get a little choked up . The though of hearing my leg crack into a bunch of pieces doesn't do a lot for one's self confidence.

The injury I sustained is called a tibial plateau fracture. Pretty much it means you shattered your leg right below the knee. It is an injury often seen in car vs pedestrian accidents   It has taken two plates and tens screws just to get my leg back to normal. I guess airport security is now going to be an ongoing issue. The folks at Enloe Hospital and UC Davis Hospital treated me great. I can't thank them enough for taking care of this old crabby baby.
Right now I got one leg but soon enough I will have two. So watch out world cause Cam Villa will be back .

I am going to catch a Shark this weekend

The view from the house

I have a Bachelor Party to attend to this weekend. This is one of the 1st real ones I have ever been on. I have attended a couple but I usually don't end up staying for the whole thing. But this one is for Nate Trivers, my sister's fiance, so I am going all out. We are going to go to Santa Cruz for the weekend and staying in a great beach house that was bought by Lloyd Bridges for his sister. It's called the Sunny Cove Retreat. It looks great and I am excited to be right on the beach. This will be two weekends in a  row that I have been able to stay on the Coast. Last weeks trip was in the 60's , but this one should be a little warmer, hopefully.
Something I am truly excited for is the chance to go Deep Sea Fishing. I have never been so it could be a puke fest for me but I am excited nonetheless.  I have been talking about it for weeks. I am catching a Great White Shark. Say what you want but when I get that thing on my line I am going for it all. No catch and release here people. When I do land it I will tell my girl to clear a space in our 725 square foot house to mount my monster shark. Hopefully our boat doesn't end up like a scene out of Jaws. Have a good weekend everybody and hopefully I will have some fish stories to tell when I get back.

Road Trip Weekend

Hydesville
I just got back from a great road trip over the weekend . I travelled north from Sacramento to Humboldt County. My main purpose for the trip was to visit my Dad's family and to hit the horse races. My grandma and grandpa live up there as well as my uncle Chris, his wife Patti, and their two boys Payden and Parker .
First, the weather was amazing. The highs were in the 60's and it was pretty cloudy except for a little sun on Saturday. I was excited for the cool weather because Sacramento has been in the high 90's for the last couple weeks . So it was time to break out the jeans and sweatshirts. I try to plan a trip to Humboldt County at this time every year because it is during the County Fair and the Horse Races. It has to be the biggest weekend for the county and the people watching is spectacular. I had to roll solo this time because my girl was at my sister's bachelor party .

Ferndale Horse Races

I left on Friday morning and was excited for the sights. It is great to drive away from the big city into the wild. I usually take I-5 to Woodland , Go Highway 16 West through the Capay Valley, Link up to Highway 20 west around Clear Lake , and get hit 101 North and take that all the way to Eureka . I usually give myself 6 hours but I have made it in as little as 4 and a half hours . My plan was to hang out on Friday with my Grandpa Bob and Grandma Lois, and hit the Horse Races and Fair on Saturday with Uncle Chris and his family.

Everything went great and when you're not drinking you have a ton of money for betting and fair food. I thought I had tried everything when it comes to fried foods but the Humboldt Fair had a half pound of fried bacon dipped in a brown sugar and mustard sauce. It was one of the most fantastic foods I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. Hanging with my family in Humboldt is like getting the VIP treatment. They know everyone and we had the hookups to it all .

The best thing about the trip was I met a lady whom went to school with my Dad and she gave me a picture of my pop's senior high school picture. It brought a lot of old memories back and it made me thankful for the time in my life I got to share with him . So I  thankful to everyone that took care of me this weekend and put out the great hospitality. Until we meet again Humboldt !

Be A Firm Believer in Yourself

It starts with you. If you don't believe in what you stand for than pack it up. We all go through times where we think we might not be at our best or the world has it out for us . Those are normal feelings. It is a big scary place out there. Millions lose and even less win everyday.  A lot of turns where we don't know what is behind the next curve. Sometimes it's dark and finding our way out isn't always the top priority.

But I can say that the second you distrust yourself it is the beginning of the end. You need to be at all times your biggest fan, supporter and critical of your actions towards others . I know that I am not always the best at everything, or even anything for that matter. But I am me and I am responsible for my own happiness and for my own portion of the pie called life . Without my original drive I cannot expect others to provide for me and to know when I have had enough. It's not up to them  . I have a voice, a pen, or a computer where i can let these things be known . Without it I am a wild  animal that may have to fight for these things I take for granted . So as long as i have a voice I intend to use it .

The Art of Sing Fighting

I have never claimed to be the creator or inventor of anything . I have never made a discovery that will change the course of human intelligence . I can say that my girl and I are innovators and we have perfected the art of Sing Fighting. Or also know as Sing Arguing .

What is Sing Fighting you ask? It is the act of critiquing, or proving a strong point through song that might otherwise be taken offensively if it was simply spoken. Singing and music have alleviated stress and brought joy to people for thousands of years. So when enlightening someone close to you with a topic that may come off as intrusive it may be in better taste to sing the request to them . Whether that be their current cleaning abilities or perhaps simply there current outlook on life . When tackling sensitive subjects it may just be easier to belt them out in song to your partner or close friends.
Not everyone takes to Sing Fighting immediately . It takes two or more parties to be in a solid sing fighting contest. Just one person involved typically means you are singing songs to yourself which can come off as strange or slightly schizophrenic . You need to practice regularly. As well placed lyric in a Sing Fighting contest can make all the difference. And the power of song can be much more powerful than immediately telling someone they are a true train wreck .
As an avid Sing Fighter I can tell you that the ability to tell my lady what is on my mind has increased ten fold. I am no longer afraid to tell the woman I love that she is being a baby or she may need to fold my clothes a little quicker next time she does laundry. As long as these requests are made through song I am confident that I will no longer be sleeping on the couch for erroneous non-rhythmic comments .

Please take my advice and truly give Sing Fighting as chance to make close relationships even closer.

Growing into your own

It is that time of year that reminds you that the days of Summer Vacation are long gone. Riding your bike around and having nothing to worry or care about has since passed. I remember when summer was the season to cause trouble. You hung around friends from different schools, went on different road trips, and experienced different activities, whether forced to do so or not. You were turned from a school kid to a savage that ate anything, rarely wore shoes and would swim anytime, any place . Those were the days .

Now I have work. Year round. What the fuck is a vacation? The second you take one you are labeled the lazy one, especially in a self employment environment. Can you tell I am self employed? Well nowadays they say it is much better to have a job than have nothing at all. And I completely agree with that statement.

But as we get closer to summer I always believe that one day I can just say "Fuck It" and ditch everything for a nice long summer vacation with me and my girl. It's true we would sing songs and try to bug each other into submission, but we would be off for the summer and try to enjoy every minute of it. And that is why I work every week of the year. For the chance to have a summer vacation one day.

Uprise and Hope for the Best

Anyone can do it. Uprising against the powers that be . It could be a boss, a brother, or even the government . The 1st step is always the most important. That is are you willing to put it all on the line ? And that could include death or the death of loved ones. Millions have attempted it but few are in our history books. The first sign of possible harm or fear destroys most uprising immediately.
Most of us are afraid to uprise. Why? Most likely out of fear. not for fear that you will remain in the same position but fear that it could always get worse. And as we know in life it can always get worse.

I am happy to see that educated kids and adults are starting to make the push towards democracy. People all around the world want the same things. For your family to be safe and your immediate needs of warmth, shelter, food, and purpose to be satisfied. Easy in the literary sense but a ginormous effort in literal terms . I am hoping that the worlds' lust for power does not deter our love for one another . We shall see in these next coming months if the uprising can change into an upbringing.

I Feel Pretty Lucky

Nikki and Nate
I feel like a pretty lucky individual today. I got to meet my niece Tyler Trivers for the first time yesterday. She is perfect. I can only imagine the joy that my sister Nikki and Nate must be feeling. It was a long journey for the both of them. They have come so far in their relationship and truly have something that can be respected and followed.
My sister has always been a fighter and a champion. She does things her own way and has been bruised and praised for doing so. She has the biggest heart in the world and would do anything for her family. Nate her soon to be husband has been a great friend to me over the years. We started playing college rugby together on the fields of Chico, Sacramento, and Humboldt. We had the chance to coach together at Sacramento State, and that was the time Nikki and him met.
I couldn't be lickier to have them in my life and I wish them the best of luck for the road ahead. Welcome baby Tyler
